Our Quantum Future - Panel Event

  • 21 Jul 2026
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • The Precinct, Stair Stadium Fortitude Valley QLD, Australia

Quantum technologies have enormous potential from accelerating drug discovery and optimising power grids for renewable energy, to advancing artificial intelligence. And this is no longer a distant prospect: these technologies have attracted large investments and are becoming increasingly commercially viable.

With this comes questions about public trust, ensuring this innovation serves our society, and the kinds of policy we need to reflect this.

Join Protocol, a youth-led tech policy lab, and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology (QUBIC) for an evening of open, expert-led conversation about quantum innovation including its extraordinary potential, risks, and the responsibilities that come with this technological development.

Our panellists bring perspectives from across industry, academia and government:

  • Dr Justine Lacey, CSIRO Principal Research Scientist and expert in Responsible Innovation
  • Dr Jorge Campos, Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology (QUBIC).
  • Alejandra Cau Cattan, Queensland Department of Environment, Tourism, Science, and Innovation (Quantum & Advanced Technologies Strategy)
  • Professor Tom Stace, Co-founder and CEO of Analog Quantum Circuits.

This event is open to all, including young people, curious members of the public and those in the quantum industry, who want to learn more about one of the most potentially consequential technologies of our time and how it will impact our society.
