AIP WA Sundowner: Submarines – why are they so expensive?

Join us for a special presentation and Sundowner with Greg Nancarrow.

Greg graduated in Physics in from Murdoch University and has two decades working in research at UWA, in areas including gravity wave research, auditory physiology and paediatric respiratory medicine. Since UWA he has worked mainly in the private sector in mining, oil and gas, defence - anywhere a smart, knowledgeable, technical specialist can make a difference.

This talk will be about Greg's passion - submarines.  Specifically Australian submarines which he has been involved with since the early 2000s. 

Greg will delve into some of the details of their design, acoustic issues and outline why they are so expensive to build and operate.
