The 16th Australian Institute of Physics Congress, ran this year from 30 January to 4 February, bringing together some of the world’s best physicists at ANU, including Nobel Prize Laureates, Professor Steven Chu and Professor Tony Leggett. High school students were invited to discuss physics technologies of the future, meet Nobel laureates and be involved in a physics forum. Hundreds of students from ACT high schools and colleges, in Cooma and the surrounding region attended the special event at Llewellyn Hall, Canberra School of Music, where they were treated to a panel of Nobel Prize Laureates and successful physicists, entertainment from the Questacon's 'crash test dummies' and a public lecture on Black Holes. All of the performers and demonstrators are from Questacon and, for the moment, will have to remain nameless. |
