AIP Executive elections - correction to Australian Physics ad
Election process for the 2009-2010 AIP Executive
Correction
Australia Physics has an error in the advertisement about the election of the AIP National Executive.
The positions of:
President
Vice President
Hon. Secretary
Registrar
Hon. Treasurer
are all elected at the AIP AGM held in Feb 2009.
There are also some members of the executive that are ex-officio to assist with the operations of the AIP.
The current president automatically sits on the next executive as the immediate past president.
The current executive will be sending a message to all members giving its nominations for these positions. The members then have three weeks to nominate other candidates for these positions. If there is more than one nomination for any position an election will be held at the AGM.
So far over the history of the AIP, the Vice President has been nominated to be President and has been elected unopposed.
The executive plans to send its nominations to members soon.
The web site and the last email to members are calling for expressions of interest for any member to be nominated by the executive, especially for some special positions. It should be noted that the executive is empowered to have two voting and other non-voting ex-officio members to assist the executive to operate in the best interests of the AIP.
Apologies for the errors in Australian Physics.
Dr Cathy Foley
President
