Scheme Aim and Objectives
The Faculty of Science has established the Margaret Clayton - Women in Research Postdoctoral Fellowship to attract female early career researchers with outstanding potential to undertake research in areas of identified faculty research strength or emerging research potential, and to redress the dearth of women academics in the faculty. One award only will be made in 2007 (for 2008).
Eligibility
Applicants must:
be female and undertaking research or have recently undertaken research in disciplines of relevance to the faculty;
be no more than five years from the date of award of a PhD as of 31 July 2007; and
have demonstrated potential to achieve research outcomes at an international level.
The fellowship is tenable only in the Faculty of Science at Monash University and it is expected that most of the time will be spent in the relevant school or centre.
Applicants must contact the head of the school in which they propose to undertake the research to discuss the proposed project.
Funding
The successful applicant will be appointed within the Research Fellow Level A range (currently $60,019 to $64,427) and will also receive superannuation and a contribution to relocation expenses. In exceptional circumstances an appointment at Level B may be recommended. Thereafter there will be annual increments, subject to satisfactory annual reports.
The school or centre in which the fellow is based is responsible for providing office accommodation and access to appropriate facilities and services necessary for the research program.
The research fellow will be entitled to annual research support of up to $15,000 per annum, which must be fully justified in the project budget.
