RiverPhys -17th Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) Congress
RiverPhys
The Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) National Congress is held approximately every two years and is the largest and foremost national conference for physicists in Australia.

The last meeting was held in February of 2005 in Canberra with around 1000 attendees, who delivered some 750 oral and poster presentations. The Congress is composed of Plenary Sessions of general interest, and meetings of the topical groups of the Australian Institute of Physics as well as affiliated societies. The program is developed through a Program Committee constituted by local members of the topical groups and affiliated societies.

The next meeting will be held in December 2006 at the Brisbane Convention Centre. The theme of the meeting will be RiverPhys, celebrating a meeting that will facilitate the presentation of contemporary physics research in Australia, on the banks of the beautiful Brisbane river. The logo represents the Brisbane River with the water "tunnelling" under the Goodwill Bridge, which is directly adjacent to the meeting venue.

The meeting will be held from 3 - 8 December 2006. An exciting program is being developed which will be posted on the web site in the near future.
